  • For dedicated students who want to sharpen their confidence, competence and skills necessary to begin a formal yoga teaching career;
  • For teachers who want to learn from those who have come before and shorten the learning curve in making Yoga teaching a sustainable, manageable and long-lasting profession.

Joan Hyman leads the School of Yoga and has collaborated with Cristina Holopainen who has been an amazing business mentor to many yoga teachers and wellness professionals over the years. Tina Schmelzer has joined the team at SOY and offers as a former COO 15+ years of professional experience in business development, marketing, and coaching.

Joan has practiced the methods of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga for well over twenty years. She is passionate about spreading the benefits of these ancient practices and wants to encourage yoga teachers to find their authentic path.

Joan has diligently selected a lineup of teachers who have their own unique style of teaching and are leaders in the world of yoga including Annie Carpenter, Marla Apt, and Jeanne Heileman. She has included guest teachers like Lisa Walford, Simon Park, Jill Ippolito (Trauma Informed), and JP Cox (Prenatal).

Joan’s intention is to create a level of excellence that helps to raise the bar and maintain a high level of quality in the yoga world. She believes this will create a more authentic place for students to grow their paths as teachers and for their own practice to continue to evolve. She partners with yoga schools in various corners of the world on developing their teacher training programs.

In this modern-day age, a professional perspective is needed to thrive as both a yoga teacher and entrepreneur. Joan helps guide students to the next level and ultimately find their own professional path with her online mentorship and coaching. Cristina leads the business of yoga modules and offers coaching on developing a business plan after you graduate from SOY.  Tina supports you to put your plan into action.
